NTT DoCoMo introduced epaper purposed as keypad in cell phone. Use e-paper as keypad make ability to that company to developed smart cell phone. For example, if users open an e-mail, keypad will changes from appearing number to appearing letters. Wow!! :).

NTT DoCoMo was not first company which introduced e-paper for application. First company which introduced e-paper application is Motorola for Motofone F3 model. The different is, Motorola use e-paper tech on the screen part.

E-paper have advantage compared with others display technology like liquid crystal. Epaper bounce back light like usual paper, and have no problem if seeing from ant angles. LCD seems blur in sun light and only have best view if put at straight upright direction.

So, can e-paper replace LCD? Just wait and see. Remember the fact, right now screen display is so important in cell phone because cell phone not just to communicate but also to take picture, playing games, and more entertainment activities. Not only ears have to served, but also eyes.
