Today, cell phone users more and more have a lot of selections to correspondence through short message. Personal IM service makes you able to write chatting message through cell phone network. This application is constitute of joined SMS and IM application.

Implementation IM application in GPRS network really not something new in telecommunication media. Years ago GPRS users had begun able to access Yahoo Messenger (YM) or other IM facility through internet. But, commonly, this IM service can not be implemented among contact number phone. This feature only can be used if we have IM account provider and only can take among subscriber. Also, commonly this service is expensive.

Because of that reasons, Personal IM born. Personal IM cheaper and can be use without have to subscribe. You can chat with number phone identity. So communication length wider.

This application initiative came from GSM Association since 2005. DiGi Telecommunication and Maxis in Malaysia right now can use this application. In India, all of GSM providers have tested this application. In Russia, VimpelCom design IM Svoi. Turkcell in Turk and China Mobile in China have launched their Personal IM, so do Portugal with SuperSMS.
